It is the sequel to Call of Duty 3, released in 2007. Thirteen years later, Call of Duty 4 still holds up in today's age like it did back then when it released in 2007. The game features multiple perspectives on different locations simultaneously, which makes the gameplay engaging and intense throughout; this also prevents recycling qualities from previous games in the series to keep things fresh. Despite the fact that the story evolves only slightly from the previous title, it's still a fun ride. In comparison to its predecessor, Call of Duty 4 is more of a realistic shooter with less arcade action. It still retains all the elements from the previous titles in Call of Duty, such as weapons and maps, but changes some aspects such as perks and equipment. The developers claim that they wanted to make a realistic game with Call of Duty 4, and it shows with everything from twitch reflexes to knifing someone in a bathroom. The game is set in Europe during World War II, where it tells stories of war through gameplay and cutscenes between missions on missions against Nazi Germany. The game begins with Call of Duty 4 on the outskirts of Warsaw, Poland. There are scattered resistance fighters fighting against Nazi forces. They are being aided by British Commandos in some missions, while some mission cutscenes show that the resistance is being aided by American Rangers. As the game progresses, players play as Joe Hamilton who is being sent to Czechoslovakia to assassinate a scientist who is working for Nazi Germany. Players have the option to kill him or not, but it is still an option. While in Prague, you will be using the M1 Garand Battle Rifle and other weapons on several missions. Several cutscenes between missions show that American Ranger soldier Sergeant Bobby Clark is taking orders from Major Parker in America during the war. During the final mission, players are able to take part in a meeting with General Patton and other top military officers to discuss victory.
